Our baby has arrived – little Audrey Joy

Well, little Audrey came into the world on July 30th, 2009 @8:01pm. She has such flawless porcelain skin and has the cutest little cry. Here is a slideshow of several pictures that were taken this weekend.

The whoring of Focus on the Family

I just finished listening to today’s program at Crosstalk where Brannon Howse hosted a discussion on the issue of the new leader of the family organization Focus on the Family. Apparently they’ve learned to the left which is more focused on commonality between those who are anti-family with those who portend to have a biblical worldview. It absolutely sickens me to hear this news and how the true church is now the only bastion of hope and truth of our country. Truly, this was always the case yet now even the leaven of righteousness left in that orginization has turned sour.

What are we to do about this matter? We must not compromise on our stand for truth and expose error wherever it may be found. This is a very costly stance, even among supposed bedfellows… but I believe time is quickly fading where the choice to do so will end. We must either stand now or be swept up in the tide that’s sweeping across our world. Do we care more about our comfort, lives and freedoms or following Jesus Christ at any cost? This fruitless banter of ‘dialog’ and ‘conversation’ is really nothing more but guised compromise where we won’t see until our views have been refashioned, then we’ll see ourselves contrary to where we once stood.

The coming Global Spirituality

To anyone who is a casual observer at the modern ‘church’ in America, they’ll see that something appears to be seriously wrong. What’s even worse is that this malady is usually seen from those outside of the confines of the Christian ‘church’ before those on the inside. Our world is filled with great uncertainty at this moment, what with the current economic crisis here in the states and elsewhere in the global community. You’ve got movers and shakers within the UN calling forth a dominant figure, one who can solve the monetary woes of our time. Others are calling for a shift in consciousness, a new way of thinking collectively as one humanity. A paradigm shift is taking place all around us, and strangely we sit mostly unaware of what is unfolding before our eyes and what’s taking place behind the scenes…. Men who long for a commonality between nations; those who have been actively working without our knowledge and who hold vast amounts of power may soon see their dream come to fruition.

Below is an example of the type of thinking that has crept into the modern ‘church’ as a result of lax standards being taught from the pulpits of our day, and now the New Spirituality has a foothold among our congregations through books such as Velvet Elvis, The Shack and Everything Must Change. Comparing these teachings to people like Alice Bailey, Marienne Williamson and Marcus Borg should give us some inkling as to how far we’ve come. I fear that the pathway is now paved for the foretold One World Religion that will take place during the End Time preceding the Second Coming of Christ.

— Strange just how similar this language is to most emerging authors and speakers now blindly accepted in our churches of today…. (view the clip near the 39 min mark and beyond) –

Little Big Bummer

no, no.... play it, you fool!

no, no.... play it, you fool!

Well, as most of you are aware of …. it seems that Media Molecule’s Little Big Planet has been recalled due to some content straight out of the Qur’an that wiggled its way into a soundtrack within the title. Personally I don’t cast any blame on the company for such a small snaffu making its way into the game without their knowledge. Seems that these things always seem to creep into modern gaming titles that hit the shelves. I give you a brief snippet from the following posted over at Kotaku.com [LittleBigPlanet Faces Worldwide Recall For Qur'an References]

Yesterday a reader sent us a link to a music file containing the two offending phrases, which can be found here. Hit the jump for the translation of the offending phrases.

The words are:

1- In the 18th second: “كل نفس ذائقة الموت” (“kollo nafsin tha’iqatol mawt”, literally: ‘Every soul shall have the taste of death’).

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: “كل من عليها فان” (“kollo man alaiha fan”, literally: ‘All that is on earth will perish’).

Needless to say, I was a tad distraught about the news as I’ve seriously wanted to resume playing the title after the Beta had just closed recently. However, I’m grateful for the decision Media Molecule on behalf of gamers and especially themselves *ahem, for their own protection*… considering the uproar that was caused by the militant folowers of Islam who caused a huge uproar over a political cartoon a while back. This is a short setback for Sony but thankfully the issue will be rectified between Oct 27th- Nov 4th when the game is tentatively slated for a re-release.

** For those wanting to get their mits on the game on its original date of Oct. 21st, I’ve managed to place a few copies on-hold thru a “big-name retailer”. Feel free to reply to this post if you’d like to get the rundown on who this is. I will either post the info here directly or by email. Keep this info on the downlow, otherwise you may not be able to obtain your copy if you spill the news directly on the net. I will tell you all who the retailer is on the day of its release (early hours) so that I can’t miss my copy due to a last-minute shipback prior to recall. (this is not a joke) **

– Edit — Turns out my place, Blockbuster Video… received their recall notice at my particular branch the morning of the launch date so they pulled the copy that I had reserved. There were numerous reports of people finding success at this location as well as Target and Walmart, as mentioned by a report on Kotaku

Sarah Palin…. I’m stunned

You know, I went into this election not thinking that there was a single candidate worth electing for President that stood a shot and had actual credibility from a moral standpoint. I don’t agree with much of what McCain stands for…. but if he can get elected and sides with the morals of someone like Sarah PalinSarah in center - with Eldest son Track, husband Todd, Brostol, Willow & Piper (Trig Paxson not shown) then perhaps we have a few more years of genuine hope, change and promise for our country. If we can follow her proven leadership in areas like gun control, who stands pro-life for our babies, and is willing to drill in ANWR (recognizing, unlike the democrats that Oil is a part of our lifestyle for the ‘immediate’ future of our country -it’ll take longer realistically to shake this monkey off our backs). I’d like to know her stances on homosexual rights. As long as she fully supports traditional marriage then I’m all for voting for McCain.

I’ve rather enjoyed the propaganda machine pushed forth from the Dems National Convention in Denver. It showed me just how shallow and thin their campaign actually is. The issues may have been stated, few as they were… veiled through smoke, mirrors and flamboyant pipe-dreams. Oh, it was all about how they support families and support our troops while men like Obama bashed the pro-lifers and pandered to the right of gays. Promising these people rights to their mates for hospital visitation is telling us that he fully supports gay marital rights. Gays must be loved, yes, but not in accepting their behavior, but by driving them into the presence of the blood-stained Cross despite their lifestyle. Are we this dumb to assume that we can take a stance on such moral issues and yet hold hands through dialog with radical Islamicists? How much more to accept the role of the Great Satan in their eyes? Even their ‘god’ Allah will agree that such is an Abomination. They will bend over backwards in appeasement to get what they want which is power, the destruction of Israel and all of modern western society. They want to destroy us regardless of what we do morally, or from what comes out of their mouths claiming otherwise for that matter. They will only back down when we stand up and fight, which is precisely why they supported the democrats in the last election cycle, least we fail to forget this simple truth. Were we wrong to invade Iraq? I think so. We’ve gone about it the wrong way as a country. Afghanistan and Obama Osama should have been the true target, not for our own selfish ambitions in the region. Hearts and minds must be transformed in order to end the fight that’s begun. To anyone who has eyes that can see, to look behind the curtain, our society is on the bring of collapse, economically and spiritually. I believe that voting for McCain might help salve the wounds for a little while, even if only for the short term. God help this country, to bring us back into alignment… to see you for who You are, that we might follow You with our whole hearts and lives while there’s still hope.

Current Discernment Thoughts

The past couple of weeks, I’ve felt this strong pull towards bringing my walk with the Lord into a sharper focus. This is about establishing what foundation it is that I stand on exactly. Now this is not about abandoning central Christian doctrines, but actually in being able to understand and articulate them more clearly myself. I can say that I believe certain things but without knowing just what that is…then it becomes pointless for me. More importantly, it could open up a gateway for me to begin believing most of the nonsense that floats around claiming to be biblical Christianity, when it actuality those things stand directly opposed to it. Not just that, but how can I stand up and confront false teachings if I can’t fully explain myself what makes them false? Sometime very soon, I’ll grab the book on systematic theology put out by Wayne Grudem, so well spoken of by Paul Washer and my good friend Isaac.

Lately I’ve discovered a few great articles on How to Discern as well as some that define clearly what is the Easy-Believism that is so prevalent in our churches today.

How to Discern: found on Herescope.com – (beginning w/ How to Smell A Rat -which is part 1 thru How to Discern part 6)

Easy-Believism: found on Posessing the Treasure, the excellent blog of Mike Ratliff – (begin reading articles titled ‘The Abomination of Easy-Believism’ ~ currently a 4 part series)

A more recent topic I’ve discovered is romanticism and how it impacts the teachings coming in through the Emergent Emerging church. Below is a basic article on the topic. It even describes some of what is becoming commonly accepted in our churches, such as the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia material.

“Christian” Romanticism, the INKLINGS, and the Elevation of Mythology: found on crossroad.to, the site of Kjos Ministries.

I have yet to fully read any of the above material myself, but all this info comes from reputable sources in the online discernment community.

test for MySpace

just display, that’s all I ask of you

*Yawns*

Well, looks like I stayed up awfully late again this evening (late to my standards of 10:30ish).. until neatly 1am. The blog installation for work is complete & current up to WP v. 2.5.1, while this particular one is only at v.2.5. Oh well, perhaps I’ll upgrade tomorrow, assuming I don’t need to create a new database & what-not. Let’s see if this entry posts to my Myspace page…. or not

Playstation 3 browser

I’ve just logged into this site while running the newest firmware update and surprisingly it works. What I mean by ‘works’ is that I was actually able to login without the browser assuming I’d made two choices with one keypress, as in choosing to login when I’ve only entered my username. Apparently, certain sites like Yahoo Mail require you to use the controller instead of a keyboard/ mouse configuration to input text. The error comes into play when trying to press ENTER to switch to the second line of your login. Since the typing interface is not visible on screen with the site itself (as the Wii Opera Browser does), you can’t simply press TAB to switch lines to continue typing your login information. This however, should not be the case when entering in general information into the usual online form that you come across.

It’s strange how Sony has continually dropped the ball since their launch of the PS3. Who would have imagined several months ago that they would be trailing in last place, with what seemed a meteoric rise of the Playstation 2 when it first launched in 2000. Sony still has a great chance to pull ahead into second place, as there are already indications ofthem doing so; selling ahead of the Xbox 360 for a couple of months. Much rests on the success of such titles as Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance 2 , Motorstorm 2, Home and Little Big Planet. Haze still may garner some attention as it still remains a system exclusive due to launch late next month. The question is whether or not people will care with titles like MGS4 coming shortly thereafter as well as Grand Theft Auto 4 (also on the 360). Another much requested update would give users what is called in-game XMB, which is more or less the ability to contact other gamers by online communication during active gameplay. The rumor of a possible Waggle controller, if released by the holiday season, could put a dent in Nintendo’s dominance if they can back it up with loads of PSN Network downloadable content… which at this point, has been greatly lacking.
